All About

Temporal Lobectomy

Wildlife

Symptoms

  • Abnormal sensations (which may include a rising or "funny" feeling under your breast bone or in the area of your stomach)
  • Hallucinations (including sights, smells, tastes) Vivid deja vu (a sense of familiarity) or recalled memories or emotions

Causes

Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most common form of focal (partial) epilepsy. People with drug-resistant medial temporal lobe epilepsy have a higher risk for memory and mood difficulties. Surgery may help many people with TLE become seizure free. Most of the time the cause of TLE is unknown

More about Treatment

Temporal lobe resection, also called temporal lobectomy, is a surgery that can lower the number of seizures you have, make them less severe, or even stop them from happening. During the operation, the doctor removes some of the part of your brain where most seizures start.
