Ugwoke Obinna Emmanuel
Nigeria
Ugwoke Obinna heard about Anavara from one of the camps we conducted in Nigeria and approached us. This was the first time we had received a case for conjoined surgery. Hence we sent the report to hospitals that had done such surgeries in the past successfully.
We got an estimate from 3 JCI approved hospitals. Ugwoke was not affluent and he was looking forward to sponsors to supplement the treatment costs. Based on the estimates received and the past experience in such complex conjoined twins surgery, Ugwoke selected to go with Naryana hospital in Bengaluru.
We coordinated his visa application form and submitted to the Indian consulate in Lagos. However we did not get the visa even after 3 weeks as this was a period when Indian embassy was double checking the applications, and visa approvals were coming from N. Delhi. Left with no choice, we tweeted to Indian Foreign minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj with picture of the children. She immediately recognized the genuineness of the case and enjoined on the ministry personnel to issue visa.
On receipt of visa, we arranged for other requirements like ticket, accommodation, receiving in India and all other logistics. They arrived in India. The hospital did all the diagnostics of the children before surgery. The surgery itself took around 9 hours. Both the babies were safe and the parents were very happy about the outcome.

James William Roach
United States
Capt James works for the oil and gas sector in Nigeria. He has diabetes. During the course of his work, he hurt himself in the leg (Foot). Since he left it untreated for some time, gangrene started spreading up into his legs.
It was on a Monday morning he saw our banner in a hospital in Nigeria. It intrigued him and he called our office. Immediately the same day, our staff met him, took his reports and sent it to India for an estimate. (Since he had indicated India as his preferred country of treatment)
We got estimate the very next day, but all estimates were bit ambiguous as the hospitals wanted to test him before they could specify the line of treatment. However, they did specify that based on the reports he may have to undergo amputation of his legs. He selected Global hospital Mumbai as his preferred hospital, as he saw their facilities on their website and was convinced about its capability.
On Wednesday, Anavara got an invite letter from the hospital. Anavara also helped James to fill out his application to the Indian High commission (consulate) in Lagos for his medical visa. The same was submitted on Thursday. We requested the Indian consulate to treat his visa as urgent as he was in constant pain. We got the visa the next week by Wednesday. He left to India by Kenyan airways on Friday.
He was received in the Mumbai airport by an ambulance from Global. The emergency doctor who met him at the hospital saw his condition, and recommended immediate surgery as delay might result in gangrene spreading to other parts of the body and could potentially be fatal. He got the consent of his daughter who was in the US at that time. The surgery was immediately done and he was taken from the ICU to his room the next day.
Initially he did not believe that his leg had been amputated. But he had prepared himself for this eventuality as it was informed as appropriate solution even when he was in Nigeria. He was given counselling and also trained to walk with crutches and walker.
He was pleased with Anavara services and consented to this video.

Mohammad Mainul Hassan
Bangladesh
Mr. Mohammad Mainul Hassan was suffering from Sinus disease for a very long time. He met doctors in Dhaka in Bangladesh and got treatment from them. However, all of them suggested that surgery was the long term solution for his condition.
While Dhaka does have facility for this surgery, he was not confident. He was also apprehensive of going abroad for treatment. It was at this time, he met our Bangladesh CMO Mr. Rajan Saha. Rajan sent his report to our Chennai team in India, who got estimate from different hospitals. Mr. Hassan based on his research on the internet and recommendations from a few friends decided to travel to Chennai. He arrived in Chennai on the 6th of Jan and was immediately taken to the guest house, which he had selected while in Bangladesh.
After initial diagnosis, doctors recommended surgery which was fixed on the 12th of Jan. The surgery was completed within 2 hours. He was kept under observation for a day and discharged the next day.
FRRO registration both in the hotel and hospital was coordinated by Anavara.
He returned on the 20th of Jan back to Dhaka.
