  • Polyps (benign lumps) on the voice box.
  • Inflammation in the throat.
  • Thinning of the muscle and tissue in the voice box (presbylaryngis)

A laryngoscopy is an exam that gives your doctor a close-up view of your larynx and throat. The larynx is your voice box. It's located at the top of your windpipe, or trachea.

 

DIAGNOSIS:

  • diagnose a constant cough, throat pain, bleeding, hoarseness, or constant bad breath.
  • check for inflammation (swelling and irritation)
  • discover a possible narrowing or blockage of the throat.
  • remove foreign objects, such as small toys swallowed by mistake.
