Causes
In artificial disk replacement, worn or damaged disk material between the small bones in the spine (vertebrae) is removed and replaced with a synthetic or "artificial" disk. What is the procedure of Lumbar replacement Surgery?
Abdominal incision(3-8cm) is taken.Muscle, intestine and major vessels are retracted away from the operating field and diseased vertebra is identified by X-ray. It is removed and an artificial disc is placed depending upon length, again X-RAY is taken to confirm proper placement of disc and it is sutured in layers.
