Dr. Shah is an experienced ophthalmologist whose post-graduate training was at the Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. This including training in all fields of ophthalmology including cataract, glaucoma, cornea, oculoplastics, neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, retina, and uveitis. He also undertook a fellowship in Cataract Microsurgery (phacoemulsification and small incision cataract surgery) at Sankara Nethralaya.

He subsequently obtained his fellowship from L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. His area of specialization is cataract, cornea, laser refractive surgeries and external eye diseases. He has been trained in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the ocular adnexa including ocular surface disorders, amniotic and stem cell transplantations, diseases of the cornea and anterior segment including penetrating and lamellar corneal transplants, DALK, DSAEK, ocular trauma, infections and laser refractive surgeries.
