Dr. Dutta is presently working as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology in Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. He has been practicing in Apollo as Senior Consultant for the last 20 years & was responsible for establishing this department with his colleagues and to make it one of the highly respected Gastroenterology units of the country. He is a resident of Delhi & graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College in 1980. He moved to the UK where he trained & specialized in Gastroenterology. He practiced in the UK for 10 years & relocated himself to Delhi Apollo in 1995 when the Hospital was started.

He is highly regarded specialist in Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy & is his subject of special interest. He contributed significantly to establish liver transplant in Apollo hospital.
